DCTS has programs to fit any student’s goals. We encourage any student interested to arrange a tour through their school’s guidance counselor, but in the mean time, take a look at these videos to get a better sense of what each of these programs has to offer.

Advertising Design & Commercial Art
Graphic designers – or graphic artists – plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communications problems. They find the most effective way to get messages across in print, electronic, and film media using color, type, illustration, photography, print and layout techniques.

Automotive Technology
Students learn skills to diagnose, service and maintain all types of automobiles. DCTS students gain a competitive edge by allowing them to work directly on new cars with technicians experienced in the field and at dealerships.

Building Trades
Practical experience and classroom training prepares students enrolled in the Building Trades program for employment in general construction or property maintenance. Students are taught carpentry, masonry, plumbing, roofing, drywall application, painting, and framing/finishing.

Carpentry
DCTS faculty are NCCER and Green Advantage® certified, providing students with opportunities to earn professional certifications while exploring new technique and trends in green building and LEED® design. Students learn building layout, framing, roofing, windows, doors, and trim.

Collision Repair Technology
Using state-of-the-art equipment, students are taught MIG welding/cutting, metal repair, corrosion protection, masking, refinishing, undercoating, and unibody inspection. They are taught safety compliance, tools and equipment identification.

Composite Fabrication & Sheet Metal Assembly
Graduates from this program will be trained for the highly-skilled, advanced technical demands in alliance with today’s leading provider of military and commercial aircraft, the Boeing Company. Students enter into an RF Helicopter competition, learn fundamentals of aerodynamics and apply that knowledge to the products they fabricate.

Computer Networking & Digital Forensics
Students prepare for emerging high-demand careers in networking, digital investigations and I.T. security.

Cosmetology
The Cosmetology program includes: occupational theory and skill training in hygiene, sterilization, scalp treatments, permanent waving, manicuring, shampoos, styling, coloring, cutting, facials and makeup application.

Culinary Arts & Hospitality
Culinary arts and Hospitality prepares students for success in the food service and hospitality industry. Students are taught food preparation, dining service, inventory control, safety, and sanitation and management skills.

Culinary Arts and Food Service Management
Students who are serious about pursuing a management career in Culinary Arts, should apply for our Culinary Arts and Food Service Management program. This program is taught in the new state-of-the-art facility at the DCTS Marple Campus on Malin Road. Students are taught food preparation, front of house management, inventory control, safety, sanitation and business management skills.

Dental Technology
New Enrolling NOW for Fall 2012! Students who enroll in the Dental Technology program learn a variety of skills that enable them to become a dental assistant, dental laboratory technician, and/or pursue a career as a dental hygienist. The program focuses on patient-centered care in support of improving oral health as a key to personal health and well being.

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program prepares students to work with young children in a variety of settings that require an understanding of how children grow, learn and develop.

Electrical Construction Technology
The Industrial and Residential Electrical program introduces students to the basic concepts of residential and commercial wiring. With an emphasis on safety, students install circuits, switches, conductors, circuit breakers and other electrical devices.

Emergency & Protective Services
Students work with protective service professionals to gain first-hand experience in all areas of these exciting professions, including fire fighting, law enforcement, emergency medical services, communications and report writing, public speaking and physical training.

Health Occupations
This course includes anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, nutrition, medical procedures, emergency and clinical care, and health care issues.

HVAC
Students learn system design, installation, repair and maintenance of commercial, industrial and residential HVAC Systems.

Landscape Design & Greenhouse Operations
DCTS is preparing students for the growth of a new generation of careers dedicated to environmental sustainability. From building ponds to caring for plants in the school’s on-site greenhouse, students experience hands-on design and installation projects using professional equipment and materials.

Materials & Inventory Control
Materials and Inventory Control introduces students to the distribution service industry. The course curriculum prepares students to work in distribution centers, warehouses, and supply rooms.

Medical Careers
For high school seniors who are interested in college for pre-nursing and medical programs. Through partnerships with four area hospitals, students rotate through various departments.
