Where the Hospital Becomes the Classroom

This program is offered only to high school seniors who are interested in college for pre-nursing and medical programs. It has been nationally recognized by the Life Science Career Alliance, won teaching awards from PDE, and achieves 100% college placement.

Through partnerships with four area hospitals, students rotate through various departments. Students benefit from career-based presentations from an array of hospital staff: nurses, physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, emergency teams, dietitians, technologists and pharmacists. They spend two class periods per week in clinical rotations shadowing and observing patient care procedures.

The curriculum includes anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, medical terminology, safety, infection control and legal/ethical issue. They graduate from the program with a solid understanding of the integral relations of the hospital team and a vision of their potential role in the field.
